I was invited to Regency Aesthetic a few days ago for a demonstration & consultation with Dr. Rikin Parekh one of the practitioner at the clinic, who demonstrated the ever so popular ‘Vampire Facial’. Regency Aesthetics is clinic that provides the latest cutting-edge aesthetic techniques and non-sourgical procedures for the face and body, located on Harley street a place famously known for it large number of medical institutions, clinics and doctors mainly in the plastics surgery industry. My visit was very insightful and interesting because as a young adult I never thought I would step foot in a place that offer such outstanding service in-terms of having a derma-filler, Botox etc. So I couldn’t say no to the invite and I’m glad i didn’t as I experienced first hand of the celebrity craze beauty secret.

The vampire facial also known as PRP Therapy is a treatment that helps and improve cell regeneration through the power of your own blood (shocking right). The treatment has been around for a while now and has been used mainly for burn victims or anyone with serious lasuration, for quick healing. But last year it became very popular when Kim Kardashin posted a picture of her face cover in blood on Instagram caption “Vampire Facial” making it the must have beauty treatment for a younger and youthful skin.

How does it work I asked…

As we all know the human blood has 3 components, Red blood cell, White blood cell and Platelet. The PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma aKa Golden Liquid) is the main ingredient in this treatment, the platelet is the cell that helps us heal when we have injuries/cut, they are cell fragments without nuclei that work with blood clotting chemicals at the site of wounds. They do this by adhering to the walls of blood vessels, thereby plugging the rupture in the vein walls. In the course of PRP treatment a Plasma with high concentration of autologous platelet is generated from your own blood (its feels just like you are having a blood test done), the platelet contains all the richness and autologous activate substance highly concentrated which facilitate cell growth and collagen production.

The procedure…

After the blood is taken from your arm, it is then placed in a medical spinning machine (known as GLO PRP) which is a blood separation kit that extracts the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) from the blood, for about 10-15mins spin. The PRP is then drawn out into a syringe and then injected into the skin with an acupuncture size needle onto a numb face for a pain free treatment.

What are the benefits of PRP?…

PRP treatment is a natural anti-aging solution that has loads of benefit and has no repercussions as it works with your own blood. The treatment is a pain-free procedure thats suitable for all skin type and even on sensitive skins.

- The result last up to 18months

- It not only used to improve the appearance of the skin (ageing) but also helps with hair growth too

- Its all natural

- No chemical

- It rejuvenates and brightens the skin

- Smoothes skin from wrinkles and acne scars

- Heals wound quickly with minimum scaring

- Improve hair growth (thicker and stronger)

My conclusion is…

I think I’m sold on this treatment, if Kim Kardashian can do it why can’t You!? I will do it when my skin requires it and showing signs of “ageing”. The fact that its natural and there’s no chemical involve does it for me, and its longevity is ideal, even though it does comes with a hefty prices tag of £450 for a single treatment and £1250 for course of 3 treatment. we ladies will pay that much for a new pair of shoes or weave and we all know the skin comes first! and needs to be looked after.
