This time last week I was lounging poolside, sipping on some traditional Moroccan tea, watching the sunset whilst the cooling breeze grazed gently on my sun-kissed skin with an amazing view of the Atlas Mountains. I went on a 4 day getaway with two of my girlfriends to Morocco. Morocco is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa. Geographically, Morocco is characterized by rugged mountains and vast desert. It is one of the only three countries (with Spain and France) to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines. Morocco has a population of over 33 million and an area of 446,550 km, Its political capital is Rabat, although the largest city is Casablanca; other major cities that's attracts more tourists include Marrakesh, Tangier, Tetouan, Salé, Fes, Agadir, Meknes, Oujda, Kenitra, and Nador. A historically prominent regional power, Morocco has a history of independence not shared by its neighbours. Its distinct culture is a blend of Arab, indigenous Berber, Sub-Saharan African, and European influences.

We stayed at the Kasbah Igoudar, a 5* star boutique hotel, restaurant and spa that is located 45mins drive away from Marrakesh and 7km from Amizmiz a neighbouring village. With the hotel away from the city and at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, Kasbah Igoudar is a prefect getaway for relaxation. We were picked up at the airport by the hotel transfer, the journey to the hotel was breathtaking as we travelled from Marrakesh through the town and the Berber villages to reach The Kasbah Igoudar. On arrival we were quickly mesmerised with its exquisite Arabic architecture, fragrant tree-lined gardens, luxurious rooms, refreshing pool, and a restaurant full of Oriental delights (YUMMY!). We certainly left our worries behind at the airport as this place was too magical! The hotel adapts to the ecosystem method to help save the planet by the usage of solar panels to source energy, using local building materials and traditional architecture with their very own organic vegetable gardens.

As we settled down poolside waiting to check-in to our rooms, we sunbathed whilst the snowy peaks of the Atlas overlooked us. I was simply awe, taking in the realness of the scenery, I was stunned as to how amazing the place is, and didn't know such places did existed (I don't get out that much). The hotel has a regular shuttle to Marrakesh and offer guided tours of the souk, and visits to the local Berber villages, we didn't get to take a trek to see the stunning mountain waterfalls and the 3 valleys with the sight of a sunset over desert dunes (here), but we did pay a visit to the famous Souk Market in Marrakech which was a great experience as we got to haggle prices the Moroccan way.

Kasgah Igoudar welcomed us with open arms and we felt right at home, with their immaculate service and their willingness to help with any queries, I will certainly will be paying another visit to Morocco and will be staying at the Kasbah Igoudar as I had a great experience and would love to explore Morocco on a larger scale.
